The soaps of our Classica range are easy to spot, even before their refined fragrances reach our sense of smell. In fact, its distinctive packaging, resulting from the historical attention to our products’ appearance, adds a small yet eye-catching accessory: our unmistakable wooden ladybug. But what is the origin of this symbol? Let’s discover it together.

The origin of the wooden ladybug on our soaps’ packaging

Like all the best stories, the idea to associate artisanal soaps with a ladybug came up almost by accident around 25 years ago, when a client made an unusual request: make Italian soaps for the UAE luxury market presenting them with a packaging other than the classic soap bar wrapped and tied with a ribbon. In order to address this requirement, we embarked on a journey of research and creativity that led to the idea of combining the soap package with an accessory.

As suggested by a supplier, the accessory needed to be readily available at all times. That’s when we knew the ladybug was the perfect choice. Our client loved the idea of a soap bar wrapped in innovative and distinctive packaging, thanks to the small wooden ladybug. The rest is history. The first order was followed by many others, a testament to the market’s appreciation. Our soap became known as “the original ladybug soap”.

Our ladybug: a symbol of luck and exquisite design

Since then, the small wooden ladybug with the ribbon symbolising the wings became part of the packaging of our most beloved soaps, those included in Alchimia Soap’s Classica Range. Their aesthetic refinement has always complimented the handcrafted quality of the products. That’s why our plant-based soaps are wrapped in elegant design paper by Tassotti, which continues Veneto’s longstanding tradition that started with the Remondini printing house. The paper depicts the natural elements of our soap fragrances, such as red orange, lemon, hellebore, and orchid.

Ladybug is the name of the range of soap bars known as “Linea Classica Ladybug”, which ensures sustainability, like all our products. Besides its natural ingredients, Alchimia Soap’s green soaps come in quality packaging made with paper, wood (the ladybug), and recycled materials, in an effort to minimise the use of plastic.

However, our ladybug also has a symbolic value. In fact, it is considered a lucky charm, a sign of good omen, happiness, and well-being. The ladybug, with its bright colours, expresses joy and vitality, and is a wish for prosperity and success in love and life. And that’s what our quality Italian soaps make too, adding a scented touch of softness and gentleness to the skin.
