Italian-made plant-based soaps: production and processing
Our laboratories in Lombardy start with a pure vegetable base, transforming it step by step into the finished soap. Natural dyes, additives, exfoliating ingredients and fragrances are added to the white shavings, which are heated and made malleable. The fragrances are preferably made with pure essential oils, such as lavender or orange, or other natural essences to recreate the desired scent, with a wide variety of olfactory options from floral tones to fresh, citrus notes. We do not use ingredients derived from animal fats.
Once the soap formulation is finalised, state-of-the-art machinery is used to transform it into the final products, whether soap bars, liquid soaps, or body-care products. Each Alchimia Soap product undergoes rigorous quality control to meet all cosmetic and safety standards.
Packaging and labelling: the artisanal side of our soaps
The next step is creating the packaging for our natural soaps, which is just as important. We have always opted for handmade packaging to ensure soaps that are handmade not only in their crafting but also in their presentation. We use paper for our natural soap bars; no other material, including plastic, is used. This way, we ensure less environmental impact. Obviously, we use only high-quality paper made with pure, eco-friendly cellulose, in line with the tradition of the great Italian papermakers.
Design plays a fundamental role. Our packaging, from the soap bars with the ladybug (Alchimia Soap’s symbol) to the labels of the eco-friendly plastic bottles of our liquid soaps, is inspired by Italy’s iconic style. The result is products with an attractive, refined and elegant graphic design, with images and patterns directly related to the fragrances of the soaps and their symbolic universe, which inevitably refers to the world of nature: flowers, plants, and fruits.
